Director of Advanced Planning, Equitable Advisors – New Jersey

Michael runs an independent estate and financial planning practice and serves as Director of Advanced Planning for Equitable Advisors in New Jersey. In 2026, he joined The Falcon Financial Group LLC, a Platinum Plus firm with Equitable, further strengthening his ability to deliver sophisticated and comprehensive planning solutions for clients with complex needs.

With more than 50 years of experience in the financial services industry, Michael began his career in 1975 as a Management Trainee with Equitable. He later served as an Advanced Underwriting Consultant, specializing in product design, competitive analysis, and business and estate tax planning, before becoming an Agency Advanced Underwriter in Brooklyn, New York. In 1984, he co‑founded KAP Planning, which grew into a respected estate planning firm known for designing advanced insurance and estate planning strategies. In 2001, he relocated his practice to New Jersey, where he continues to support advisors with advanced planning techniques and complex life insurance applications.

Michael holds a degree in Actuarial Science from The College of Insurance and earned the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU)Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and Master of Science in Financial Services (MSFS) designations through The American College. He later added the Non‑Qualified Plan Advisor (NQPA) designation. In 2007, he completed the Wharton School of Business Retirement Planning Program, earning the title of Retirement Planning Specialist from AXA/Equitable Advisors.

Throughout his career, Michael has received numerous industry honors, including the AXA/Equitable Gold, Silver, and Bronze Eagle AwardsSummitCircle of Excellence, and Centurion Producer Awards. He has achieved Equitable’s Hallmark XI and Distinguished Service Awards, has been named a National Champion, and is a member of both Equitable’s Hall of Fame and the Life Leaders Hall of Honor. Most recently, he was recognized as Equitable’s 2025 National Honor Associate, following his selection as the 2023 Northeastern Regional Honor Associate.

Michael is a frequent speaker at industry seminars, including those hosted by the National Law FoundationNYC Estate Planning CouncilNYU Law School, and the New Jersey Society of CPAs. He is a past President of the New York City Estate Planning Council and currently serves as a Board Member of Corporate & Endowment Solutions (CES), focusing on advanced tax strategies utilizing institutional life insurance designs.

Michael resides in Warren, New Jersey, with his wife Cindy. Together, they have six children. He is an avid golfer and a loyal Yankees fan.
